Peter Morgan allegedly strangled Georgina Symonds, 25, in January after using a listening device in her home.
The married father-of-two, 54, had been in a three-year relationship with Ms Symonds, Newport Crown Court heard. The property developer, escrot Llanellen, near Abergavenny, denies murder.
